10 Steps to Finding Your Perfect Wedding Gown

By: Harrison Fray

Your wedding gown is a very important thing to prepare for. As a bride, you are the one of the main center of attention and everyone will definitely look forward to seeing you walk down the aisle towards your groom. The last thing you want is feel totally uncomfortable as you fidget with your wedding gown. So to help you eliminate such dilemmas, here are some practical steps you can do as you try to find the perfect wedding gown which will fit you:

Step 1 - Be realistically aware of your body.
Sure you may have a design already in mind, but would that design really flatter you or highlight unwanted things that might make you look awkward? You might want to get the input of a professional designer so that you can understand what type of design will flatter you in the right places.

Step 2 - Set a practical budget
Although you are going to be the star of the wedding day itself, it does not necessarily follow that you can just splurge. Consider the fact that you also have other things to spend for on your wedding celebration. Set just the right budget, also depending on the design which you will choose.

Step 3 - Prepare for the wedding dress at least 3 months before the actual wedding day
This should be one of the first things you have to take care of. Get it over and done with so that you don't have to fuss about it a few days before your wedding day. Find the right designer or the best gown for you and fit it already way ahead of time. This would give you enough leeway to make necessary adjustments should there need to be changes along the way.

Step 4 - Start with picking the right dress first before the shoes
Your shoes should depend on the dress and not the other way around.

Step 5 - Find a dress that's not too tight and not too loose
Keep in mind that you might end up losing or gaining weight throughout the course of your wedding preparations. But between the two, it's better to end up with a bigger dress than a smaller one because the former is easier to repair than the latter.

Step 6 - Hire a seamstress instead of getting one ready-made
This way, your dress will really fit you since your actual measurements will be taken first before the dress is made.

Step 7 - If you can't hire a seamstress, make the dress REALLY fit you
Don't be afraid to make alterations if you must. After all, you have to do what you have to do to make you look really good in the said wedding dress.

Step 8 - Find comfortable materials
Should you have the dress sewn for you, be there when the cloth are being bought. You should make sure that it feels comfortable to you and it's breathable because you will be wearing it under hot lights as you are getting pictured.

Step 9 - Invest in a strapless bra
Usually, brides find themselves wearing off-shoulder wedding dresses. So should that happen, it's best to showcase the slim contours of your shoulders with a strapless inside.

Step 10 - Fit your gown a few days before the wedding
Don't be too complacent with your dress. Fit it a week before the wedding day so you can have time to make alterations if need be.
