7 Tips for Easy Laptop Travel

There are a lot of ways of ensuring your laptop travel is convenient and does not entail carrying a heavy load around. All you need to do is to bear these tips in mind when buying a notebook that is easy to carry around when traveling.

1. Weight
The weight of the laptop is of course a very crucial issue when choosing a laptop you want to take with you when you travel. Big screen models, while being really good for viewing, add up a lot of weight. If you don’t intend to watch movies on your notebook, and don’t need a big screen for complicated graphic designing, a smaller screen is much more preferable for easy notebook travel.

2. Memory
Laptops have become a lot more affordable in the past few years. But they still cost more than personal computers. Laptops are also tougher to expand and upgrade. It makes sense to buy additional hard drive memory when you shop for a laptop.

3. USB Ports
You should ensure that your laptop has a minimum of 2 ports. These ports are your chief method of connecting to external devices, which will aid you in your laptop travel.

4. Laptop Travel on Airplanes
If you often take your laptop with you when flying, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. Bigger screen laptops may cause discomfort in the coach section since there won’t be enough space to work on the system.

Also, a laptop with external volume controls and Wi-Fi is preferable, since this makes it easier to control the sound and reduces interference with the plane’s navigational system, respectively.

Next, you may consider buying a second battery before going on really long flights. This is a good way of ensuring you have charge for a long time.

5. Back-up Plan
Laptop travel can entail mishaps where the laptop may get stolen or damaged while on the road. Ensure you take frequent back-up of your data. Another back-up option is to have an inbuilt DVD or CD burner, or a USB flash drive to store your work data and/or back-up data. Ensure you always keep your back-up up to date.

6. Good Quality Case
A strong, good quality laptop case is crucial to ensure your laptop is protected from the rough and tumble of notebook travel.

7. Extended Warranty
Generally, warranties cover a year from the date of purchase of the notebook. For a safe and anxiety-free laptop travel, it makes sense to opt for an extended warranty period, if available.
