Laser Treatments Can Make You Hairless in Chicago

By: Nick Messe

There was a time that a nice thick mat of hair on a guy's chest was considered manly and sexy. In many parts of the world, women considered unkempt if they do not shave their legs or underarms. Granted these are probably remote areas where access to personal grooming tools, or spas is non-existent.

North American fashion dictates that human beings strive to achieve looks that are as far removed from one's natural state as possible. Got straight hair? Curl it. Got curly hair? Get out the flat iron. Got a hairy chest? Mow it. The natural human body just isn't cool - we've got to primp and polish it.

You'd think this trend would be only prevalent in countries with hot climates such as South America and the Southern United States, where folks wear less clothing and frolic about on public beaches. After all, in more northern climes, we wear clothes to keep warm for many months of the year. Only in the spring do we really need to find the razor.

But now, even northerners have adopted warm weather dressing. Skimpy tops and short shirts are the norm year round, and so shaving becomes a year round activity. Not to mention manicures and pedicures. Folk have to be perfectly groomed at all times. There's no such thing as hibernation anymore.

We don't have time to shave, wax, pluck and use depilatory creams anymore either, so the preferred way to keep smooth is to schedule an appointment and get someone else to do it - permanently.

Electrolysis is permanent, but it hurts, so Laser hair removal has become the preferred thing to do. It provides a more user friendly solution to a laborious and time consuming method. Instead of the technician having to insert an incredibly thin metal probe probe into each and every hair follicle, heat is applied with a specialized laser to damage the follicles in mass.

Melanin is the substance in our follicles and gives our hair its color. The laser needs to lock onto the color to do its job, so it stands to reason that the best scenario is a client with light skin and dark hair.

However, folks with red, white, blond or peach fuzz can be treated too. As laser hair removal becomes more and more popular, new laser technology is being brought on line. Clinics that employ the most skilled technicians and use the latest equipment will ensure that everyone can enjoy smooth and hairless skin.
