List of Careers

By: Alex De Mostafa

Upon graduating high school, one of the common problems of students is which college degree to take or which job they can take to finance their college education. Some students feel they are trapped by their parents suggestions. Others feel that they have to choose the field that is most in demand in order to quickly land a job after graduating from college.

If you are still undecided on the career path that you are going to take, here are the most common (and always in demand) career options for high school graduates.

Education

If you have that passion to share your knowledge to kids and teens, studying to become a teacher might suit you. With more and more schools opening up and needing more instructors, you are assured that there is a career waiting for you after college.

Health Care

There is always that need for proper and advanced health care in every country. Study as a nurse, medical technologist, pharmacist, psychologist, physical therapist or occupational therapist and serve your country by protecting the health of the public. You may also take further studies and enroll yourself in a medical school so that you can serve your community as a doctor. You can choose from several specializations including surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics, internal medicine, pulmonology and psychiatry.

Engineering

New buildings, roads, computers and communications devices are developed each day. This paves way for more and more people who would like to establish a career as an engineer. You may become a computer engineer, mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, industrial engineer, instrumentation engineer or communications engineer.

Business Degrees

With the continuous expansion of the economy, business experts are needed to make the country's economy more productive and stable. You may establish a career as an accountant, entrepreneur, business manager, economist or trade specialist.

Arts

If you have a special artistic talent or you are deeply interested in the field of arts and multimedia, there are also a number of careers in this field for you. You can take an acting or music course in order to become a professional stage or film performer. You can also take film directing and create your own big screen works.

When you choose a college degree, although you also need to consider the suggestions of family and friends and the current career trends, don't dwell so much on them. Listen to your heart and decide on the career that makes you feel fulfilled and increases your self worth.
