Tighten Facial Muscles-Lets Face it

By: April Wilcher

Botox and facial atrophy to tighten facial muscles go hand in hand. We have all looked at certain famous people at one time or another and asked,"What happened to her/his face! It is definitely that person but something is just not right! Maybe their face is expressionless or mask--like, one side of the face looks different from the other, maybe when they speak their mouth doesn't move just right or when they try to smile they just don't look like they're "feeling it." This could be because they have undergone Botox injections.

I saw in the news the other day where a couple in Florida received Botox which they expected to be a simple procedure turned into a nightmare. "When I got to the ER room, I couldn't swallow and then I couldn't speak," the gentleman said. "My teeth froze like I had lockjaw. Eventually, I became totally paralyzed." Scary, huh?

Botox is derived from the most powerful known toxin to humans. Botulism toxin is a bacteria that is commonly found in home-canned foods and fermented uncooked dishes. Remember at summer picnics Mom was always careful not to leave the spoon in the open potato salad on a hot day? That's why! Botulism poisoning starts with paralysis of the facial muscles then spreads to your arms and legs. When your breathing is effected your ability to exhale carbon dioxide can cause coma. It affects the nerves that are firing more often and works it's way down.

I saw in the news the other day where a coupleWhat was expected to be a simple procedure turned into a nightmare, the Palm Beach couple says.

"When I got to the ER room, I couldn't swallow and then I couldn't speak," Eric Kaplan said. "My teeth froze like I had lockjaw. Eventually, I became totally paralyzed."

Botox is used medically for different conditions such as abnormal underarm sweating, crossed eyes, involuntary blinking, and back pain. When injected into the face it will tighten facial muscles by blocking the signals to the targeted muscles and when the muscle doesn't contract wrinkles don't show as much. It could be seen as controlled weakening. Injections in the neck and facial area the targeted muscles the wrinkles do fade but after every 4 months or so you have to go back and have this expensive procedure repeated if you want to keep "that look."

I'm sure you have seen on television where someone has slowly poisoned another person, over time, using Arsenic. It doesn't kill them all at once but over a period of time, in small doses, it will. Sound familiar? I must say that the risks of dieing from Botox injections is slim but, for me, I just don't like those odds.

If you look in the mirror, don't like what you see, and want to change it, make your decision based on the homework you have done and what is right for you. Learn more about noninvasive face lifts and then base your decision on those comparisons.
