WHY THERE’S A NEED TO CONVERT BETWEEN PDF AND JPG

By: Summer Susan

JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) is one of the most common file formats for working with images. It is widely used for images that are posted and transmitted on the Web, and it is also one of the formats that is used by digital cameras and other photographic image capture devices. JPG files have many advantages. Most programs can display JPG images and they are very suitable for email because of their small size. Another advantage is that you can adjust the degree of compression used to save a JPG file which allows you to control the file size and image quality. However, JPEG compression is lossy. What does this mean? When you save a JPEG file, it is automatically compressed, and as a result, the visual quality is reduced.
On the other hand, PDF (Portable Document Format) files can be compressed without any reduction in quality. PDF is also a standard Internet format. It guarantees that the image seen by the viewer is the same across all platforms. A significant advantage of PDFs is the superior appearance of the printed copies in comparison to other file formats. However, PDF is intended as a read-only format which makes it very difficult to edit.
Programs that let you convert between JPEG and PDF files, such as Smart PDF Converter, can be of great use if you need to work with images in PDF format. The PDF format is often preferred for various kinds of images for a number of reasons. As an example, PDFs are often submitted for professional printing for best results. Another reason is that PDF allows the easy transmission of high resolution, high quality images. In many cases, images in a PDF file act as visual examples alongside informational content and you may want to reuse those images for other purposes. You can convert the image to JPG which will allow you to use it or edit it much more easily with any image editor. On the other hand, if you need to print the image, you can choose to convert it to PDF to make sure that the printed copy will look exactly like the original. In both cases, Smart PDF Converter not only easily converts between these and other formats but preserves all the graphics and layout of the original image files.
